Biography

Between 1960 and 1973 Romanian ice hockey player Alexandru Calamar represented Steaua București where he won eight league titles. For more than a decade Calamar also played for the national team including at the Olympics in Innsbruck and Grenoble in 1964 and 1968, respectively. In between his two appearances at the Olympics he won silver with the team at the 1966 Winter Universiade in Sestriere. After his playing career Calamar became the coach of the Steaua București junior team from 1974 to 1988 and coached the national team from 1986 to 1987.
