Russell van Horn’s one victory in the 1904 Olympics was over Art Seward, who was disqualified for lack of aggressiveness. Van Horn, from the South Broadway Athletic Club in St. Louis, then lost by decision to eventual champion Harry Spanjer. Later Van Horn worked as a firefighter with the Columbus Fire Department in Ohio.
