Scott Lachance played defense for Boston University, taking them to the final game of the 1991 NCAA Frozen Four, where they lost to Northern Michigan. In 1991 he was the fourth overall pick of the NHL entry draft by the New York Islanders. Lachance played in the NHL from 1992-2004, starting with the Islanders, but later playing for the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, and Columbus Blue Jackets, playing in 819 NHL games. He also skated a lot for the US internationally, appearing in the 1991 and 1992 World Junior Championships, the 1992 Winter Olympics, and the World Championships in 1996-97 and 1999. After leaving the NHL in 2004, Lachance sat out a year and then came back to play in Europe in 2005-06 with the Kloten Flyers in Switzerland, and then played in 2006-07 with the Lowell Devils of the American Hockey League, before finally retiring from professional hockey. He later became a scout for the New Jersey Devils. Lachance is married to the former Jacqueline Parker, the daughter of his college hockey coach, the legendary Jack Parker.
