Frank Eberhardt was from a large family of brothers from Salina, Kansas known for their athletic prowess. Frank was a champion bicycle racer and tennis player in his youth. He was Kansas state champion in singles several times in the first decade of the 20th century, and he and his brother Fred Eberhardt, won the state doubles title multiple times.
Frank Eberhardt joined his father, Christoph Eberhardt, in the family lumber business in Salina. He later acquired the business, but when he retired he sold the property to the town, who converted it to a parking lot.
