Canadian-born ice hockey forward Ed Lebler, father of Brian Lebler, represented Austria at the 1984 Sarajevo and 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. On both occasions, the Austrian team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, Lebler won 59 international caps, scoring 41 goals and 27 assists. His parents originally emigrated from Austria in the 1950s.
Lebler came to Austria in 1981 and won five league titles, four of them with Klagenfurter AC (1985-88) and one with EC Villach SV (1992). In Austria, he played with HC Salzburg (1981-82), Klagenfurter AC (1982-89), EC Villacher SV (1989-92), and Zell am See EK (1992-93).
Lebler earned a pharmacology degree from the University of Wisconsin. He moved back to Canada in 1993 to work in a pharmacy, as he had done every summer. He later took over the pharmacy. Lebler also coached several ice hockey teams.
