Latvian sportsman Arvīds Lejnieks competed in both track cycling and speed skating. Lejnieks participated in the sprint event at the 1934 World Track Cycling Championships in Leipzig, Germany, but retired in the first round of the competition. He then became a two-time champion of Latvia in the event, winning titles in 1935 and 1937. On the ice Lejnieks was selected to compete in speed skating at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Olympics. He skated in the 5,000 and 10,000 metres events, finishing 29th and 23rd, respectively. After World War II he was involved in motor sports in the city of Liepāja.
