Biography

Leopold Linhart was an Austrian figure skater who finished 11th in the men’s singles at the 1936 Garmisch-Partenkirchen Winter Olympics. He also participated in the 1936 (seventh) and 1937 (sixth) World Championships. At Europeans he placed fourth in 1934, eighth in 1935, and sixth in 1937.

Linhart’s national career was overshadowed by his teammates Karl Schäfer and Felix Kaspar. Consequently, Linhart only enjoyed four podium finishes with silver in 1936 and 1937, and bronze in 1934 and 1935. He trained as a tailor but later became a well-known figure skating coach. Among others Linhart coached Trixi Schuba until her Olympic gold in 1972.
