Ecuadorian tennis player María Eugenia Guzmán was active during the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1967 Guzmán competed at the Pan American Games, winning silver in the doubles with Ana María Ycaza and bronze in the mixed doubles with Francisco Guzmán. The following year she competed at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics where tennis was held as a demonstration sport. Guzmán once again paired with Ycaza and Guzmán in the doubles and mixed doubles, respectively, in addition to playing in another doubles event with Suzana Petersen. At Grand Slams she reached the third round at the 1969 French Open and Wimbledon in 1970.
