Biography

Jun Kamiwazumi was a Japanese tennis player who competed during the late 1960s and early 1970s, and was a mainstay on Japan’s Davis Cup team. In 1968 Kamiwazumi competed in several singles and doubles events at the Mexico City Olympics where tennis was played as a demonstration sport. During his career he reached two doubles finals, the first in Osaka in October 1973 and the second in Denver in April 1974, but finished as a runner-up on both occasions. Kamiwazumi had his best performance at a Grand Slam when he reached the quarter-finals of the mixed doubles with Kazuko Sawamatsu at the 1973 French Open.
