From 1969 to 1973 Latvian tennis player Zaiga Jansone won five consecutive Soviet doubles titles with her Russian partner Olga Morozova. During the same period Jansone and Morozova played in 12 ITF doubles finals, winning all but one of them. The partnership also contested the 1971 WTA doubles final in Beckenham, England, but lost to the British pair of Christine Truman and Nell Truman.
In 1968 Jansone competed in multiple singles and doubles events at the Mexico City Olympics where tennis was played as a demonstration sport. Her best performance came in the mixed doubles, winning the event with Vladimir Korotkov. After the Olympics she won gold in the doubles at the 1973 Summer Universiade in Moskva, once again pairing with Olga Morozova.
