George Redlein was a Buffalo native who was on the Buffalo German team that won the 1904 Olympic basketball tournament. Miller played in every one of the Buffalo Germans’ wins at the 1904 St. Louis Olympics. The team won 111 consecutive games between 1908-10. They were inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame in 1961. The Buffalo Germans were disbanded in 1925 after compiling a 792-86 record.
Redlein went on to play for Syracuse University from 1904-08. He was a shooting forward and started for the Orangemen for three seasons. He scored a career high of 26 points against Hamilton in his sophomore year but missed his junior season after an attack of appendicitis. He led the Orange in scoring as a senior and later played some professional basketball.
