Kelly Jones played singles at the 1984 Olympic demonstration event. He was a student at Pepperdine University at the time, where he won the NCAA title in doubles in 1984 and 1985. Jones turned professional in 1986 and focused on doubles. He won eight career doubles titles and was runner-up at the 1992 Australian Open and US Open. In October 1992, Jones reached the #1 world ranking in doubles. He played some singles, with a career high world ranking of #86. He later became the head tennis coach at Furman University.
