Gretchen Rush played tennis at Trinity University in San Antonio, where she was named a four-time All-American. She turned professional after college and played through 1992, although she continued to play senior events after that. She won three titles on the WTA Tour, and reached the singles quarter-finals at Wimbledon in 1989, the US Open in 1982, and the French Open in 1983. Her top world ranking in singles was #22 in March 1990. Rush was inducted into the Women’s Collegiate Hall of Fame in 2016.
