Russian-born rhythmic gymnast Lena Asmus helped the German team finish a surprising fourth place at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This was the best ever rhythmic gymnastics result in German Olympic history. She won 11 German national titles in total, and later became a coach at the Move Artistic Dome in Köln. She also occasionally commented on rhythmic gymnastics events for the German TV channel Eurosport.
