Born in Kyrgyzstan, rhythmic gymnast Edita Schaufler arrived in Germany with her family as ethnic re-settlers at the age of 13 in 1993. She helped the German team finish a surprising fourth place at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. This was the best ever rhythmic gymnastics result in German Olympic history. In total, she won two German national titles. By profession, she became an industrial clerk.
