Lithuanian-born handball player Rima Sypkus represented Austria finishing fifth at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. She became a naturalised Austrian in 1999 and won 139 international caps. Sypkus a bronze medal at both the 1996 European Championships and 1999 Worlds.
At club level, Sypkus played with RK Eglė Vilnius until 1993, then in Austria with Hypo Niederösterreich (1993-2000), helping them win the EHF Champions League in 1994-95, 1998, and 2000. She then she moved to ZHV Wiener Neustadt (2000-06).
