Sascha Reinelt

Sascha Reinelt was a German field hockey player who participated in the 2000 Olympics at Sydney. Germany beat Great Britain 4-0 to win the match for fifth place. At Athens in 2004 he finally won a medal, when Germany beat Spain 4-3 after sudden death extra time in the bronze medal match.

In 1999 and 2003, Reinelt won the European Championship, and also the 1999 and 2006 European Indoors. He also won the Champions Trophy in 2001, and the World Championship in 2002. Reinelt was on the squads that lost the Champions Trophy finals in 2000 and 2002. He played 233 international matches (including 13 indoor), scoring 87 goals (27 indoor) from 1998-2005.

Domestically, Reinelt played with SV Böblingen and HTC Stuttgarter Kickers. He helped Stuttgart win the 2005 national title and the 2006 European Champions Cup. He was awarded the Silver Bay Leaf, Germany’s highest sports award. By profession, he became a real estate investor and developer.
