Paul Winder was an alternate for the US 4x100 relay at the 1960 Roma Olympics, but never competed at the Olympics. He graduated from Morgan State University where he won the 1959 NAIA title at 100 yards and the 1960 IC4A title at 100 yards. He was runner-up at the 1960 NCAA Meet in the 100 metres.
Winder served in the US Marine Corps as a first lieutenant from 1962-65, and was named to the All-Marine track & field team during that time. His high school track in Pleasantville, New Jersey was named in his honor and Pleasantville High School annually gives out the Paul Winder Sportsmanship Award.
