Biography

Michael Brown was a Canadian sprint canoer who competed internationally during the 1960s. Brown participated in the K-1 1,000 metres at the 1960 Roma Olympics where he was eliminated in the repêchage round. He returned to the Olympics for the 1964 Tokyo Games, this time competing in the K-2 1,000 metres with compatriot Gabor Joo. The pair advanced to the semi-finals from the repêchage, but then finished last in their heat to be eliminated. Brown spent 36 years working for the telecommunications company Bell Canada, in addition to volunteering at the Canadian Canoe Museum.
