Tawny Banh played singles and doubles table tennis at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games. She won six medals at the Pan American Games, with golds in the 1999 and 2007 team events, adding two silvers (1995 team, 2003 doubles) and two bronzes (1995 and 2003 doubles). She was a four-time US doubles champion, winning in 2003-04, 2006, and 2008. Banh competed for the USA at 10 World Championships. She was US U-19 Girls’ Champion in singles and doubles in 1991-92 and won the US Nationals U-22 singles titles in 1991-93 and 1995. Banh also won a gold medal in 1994 at the US Olympic Festival in mixed doubles.
Banh was born in Vietnam but came to the United States as a youth and was on the US National Team from 1994-2007. She later became a coach with the Los Angeles Table Tennis Association. In 2014 she was inducted into the USA Table Tennis Hall of Fame.
