Biography

Patricia Wartusch was an Austrian tennis player who played professionally from 1997 to 2005. Wartusch achieved a career-best singles ranking of #65 in the world in April 2000 and a doubles ranking of #22 in the world in May 2003. She won her first doubles title on the WTA Tour in June 1999 with her Russian partner Evgenia Kulikovskaya at the Tashkent Open. Wartusch then formed a strong partnership with the Hungarian player Petra Mandula, with the pair winning five WTA titles together. She also won two singles titles, with both victories taking place on clay.

In 2000 Wartusch played in the singles and doubles at the Sydney Olympics, pairing with Barbara Schett in the latter. Two years later she and Petra Mandula reached the quarter-finals of the French Open, losing to the Japanese pair of Rika Fujiwara and Ai Sugiyama. The Wartusch-Mandula partnership then made it to the quarter-finals of Wimbledon in 2003, but lost in straight sets to Virginia Ruano Pascual (ESP) and Paola Suárez (ARG).
