Biography

Olena Tatarkova was a Ukrainian tennis player who played professionally from 1993 to 2006. Tatarkova achieved a career-best singles ranking of #45 in the world in January 1999 and a doubles ranking of #9 in the world in July 1999. As a doubles specialist, she won four WTA titles from 1999 and 2003, along with 25 ITF titles from 1993 to 2004. In 1999 Tatarkova and the South African player Mariaan de Swardt reached the doubles final at Wimbledon, but lost in straight sets to the American duo of Lindsay Davenport and Corina Morariu. One year later Tatarkova and Anna Zaporozhanova competed at the 2000 Sydney Olympics, but lost to the French pair of Julie Halard-Decugis and Amélie Mauresmo in the second round.
