María Alejandra Vento-Kabchi was a Venezuelan tennis player who played professionally from 1994 to 2006. Vento-Kabchi achieved a career-best singles ranking of #26 in the world in July 2004 and a doubles ranking of #15 in the world in July 2004. In January 1998 she finished as the runner-up at the Australian Hard Court Championships after losing to Japan’s Ai Sugiyama in straight sets. Later in the year she made up for missing out on the title by winning four gold medals at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Maracaibo, with victories in the singles, doubles, mixed doubles, and team events. One year later Vento-Kabchi won gold in the singles at the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, with a win in straight sets against the American player Tara Snyder.
During her career Vento-Kabchi reached the doubles quarter-finals at Wimbledon (2003, 2004), the Australian Open (2004), and the US Open (2003). In 2000 she played in the singles and doubles at the Sydney Olympics, pairing with Milagros Sequera in the latter. Vento-Kabchi returned to the Olympics four years later, playing in the singles at the Athina Games.
