Lane MacDonald played for Harvard, leading them to the 1989 NCAA Championship, and he was named the Hobey Baker Award winner that year as the best college hockey player in the United States. He also played for Harvard in 1985-86, when they lost to Michigan State in the finals of the Frozen Four. MacDonald played one year of pro hockey in Switzerland with Lugano, and tried to make the 1992 US Olympic team, but without success. He then went back to school, earning an MBA from Stanford. He later became a general partner in a private equity firm near Boston. MacDonald was inducted into the US Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.
