Drafted out of Milton Academy in Massachusetts by the New York Islanders in the 1988 NHL entry draft, Marty McInnis first played three years at Boston College before joining the 1991-92 US national team for the 1992 Winter Olympics. At Boston College McInnis skated with two future 1992 Olympic teammates, David Emma and Sean Hill, forming the HEM Line. McInnis then played with the Islanders in the NHL from 1992-97, before playing a few years each with the Calgary Flames, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and Boston Bruins, retiring after the 2002-03 season. In his NHL career he played in 796 games, scoring 170 goals and 420 points. McInnis also competed for the United States at the 1996 and 1997 World Championships.
