Apart from his appearance at the 1924 Winter Olympics, nothing is known about René Mortiaux. In the Four/Five man event, he was one of riders on the Charles Mulder sled, along with Paul Van den Broek, Victor Verschueren and Henri Willems. In each of the runs, the team placed third, resulting in a bronze medal, 20 seconds ahead of the fourth-place team, France.
