Alain Acart

Alain Acart was a French sprint canoeist, skydiver, and an accomplished orienteer. Acart started canoeing when he was 12, winning his first national title two years later. He went on to win 23 national titles during his career.

Acart competed in the C2 1,000 metres at the 1972 München Olympics and the 1976 Montréal Olympics, but he did not progress further than the heats. Acart had better success at the 1974 Canoe Sprint World Championships where he and Jean-Paul Cézard won the bronze medal. Five years later he won two silver medals and a bronze at the Mediterranean Games.

After retiring from competing, Acart became a coach. From 2003 to 2016 he coached three-time Olympian Cyrille Carré. Acart also worked as a member of the technical staff of the French Canoe Federation for five years.
