Terry O’Brien was from Maine but lived in Plattsburgh, New York when he competed in luge, stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base while in the US Air Force. He attended South Portland High School and the University of Maine. O’Brien was US Champion in doubles in 1969 and singles in 1971 and in 1969 was North American Champion in both singles and doubles.
