A member of the Great Britain II bobsleigh team at the 1924 Chamonix Olympics, George Pim was, like team-mates Gray Horton, Gerard Fairlie and Archie Crabbe, a member of the Scots Guards. Having finished fifth in 1924, Pim steered the Great Britain I team four years later to 10th place as he became the first British bobsleigher to compete in two Olympics. Three weeks before the St. Moritz Games, the five-man bob that Pim was steering was involved in a bad crash at the French resort, while competing in the Martineau Cup. Two other members involved in the accident, Frederick Browning and Thomas Warner went on to compete with Pim at the Olympics. Pim was owner of the bob, named “Tishy”, and in the 1927 season they won eight races on the Cresta Run.
