Bob Rock was from Montana, going to school at Hellgate High School in Missoula, and later attending the University of Montana. In 1965 he was Junior US champion in both singles and doubles luge. In 1971 Rock was third at the US Championships and placed 51st at the Worlds. Rock later settled in Chandler, Arizona, and became President of the Olympians for Olympians Relief Fund, a charitable group founded in 1999 helping provide funds for former Olympians who have fallen on hard times.
