Jürgen, brother of Michael Rumrich, was an ice hockey forward who competed at three Winter Olympics with the German teams in 1992 at Albertville, 1998 at Nagano, and 2002 at Salt Lake City. In total, he won 182 international caps, scored 27 goals, and played in eight World Championships in 1992 and then 1996-2002. He was inducted into the German Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.
Domestically, Jürgen Rumrich played with TEV Miesbach (until 1984), SB Rosenheim (1984-86), EHC Freiburg (1986-90), BSC Preußen Berlin (1990-98), Kassel Huskies (1998-2000), Nürnberg Ice Tigers (2000-04), and Hamburg Freezers (2004-05). After his active career he enjoyed a coaching career with SC Riessersee, Straubing Tigers, Schwenninger Wild Wings, Landshut Cannibals, and Kassel Huskies. Finally, he became sporting director with Schwenningen, and later Bad Tölzer Löwen.
