Ice hockey forward Robert “Bob” Watt was the son of A.M. Watt, manager of a Canadian Bank of Commerce in Vermilion, Alberta, and first represented Canada internationally during the 1949-1950 season when Canada, represented by the Edmonton Mercurys, won a gold medal at that season’s World Championships. Watt continued with the team during the 1950-1951 season when they were again selected as delegates from Canada, this time to the 1952 Winter Olympics. At the tournament, he played in eight games and scored three goals. He took home a gold medal and, until his death in 2010, lived in Red Deer County, Alberta. As a member of his Olympic team, he was inducted into the Alberta Sport Hall of Fame Museum in 1968.
