Biography

Sergey Yashin began his hockey career with Dizelist Penza in 1978 and joined Dynamo Moskva in 1980, playing there until 1990. With Dynamo Moskva, Yashin won a Soviet title in 1990, silvers from the Soviet Championships in 1980 and 1985-87 and bronzes in 1981-83 and 1988. In 1990 he joined Dynamo Berlin and in 1992 joined SKA St. Petersburg, before playing for EC Wilhelmshaven-Stickhausen from 1994-2001, except 1997-98, when he had a short spell with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk. Internationally, besides his 1988 Olympic gold, Yashin was on the World Champions in 1986 and 1989 and European Champions in 1985-86 and 1989. He also won bronzes at the 1985 World Championships and the 1984 Canada Cup. After his playing career, Yashin worked as a coach with EC Wilhelmshaven-Stickhausen.
