C. J. Young played hockey for Harvard, graduating in 1990 and leading them to the 1989 NCAA Championship. He is best known for a game in December 1988 when he scored three short-handed goals in 49 seconds, among his five goals in the game. Young was drafted by the New Jersey Devils in the first round, #5 overall, of the 1989 NHL supplemental draft, but never played for the Devils. He had a short NHL career, playing only in the 1992-93 season in 43 games for the Calgary Flames and Boston Bruins. Young had also played in the International Hockey League in 1990-92 with the Salt Lake Golden Eagles, and finished his professional hockey career with a few games with the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League in 1993. Young later went into investments, working as an equity analyst for Century Funds in Boston.
