Flatwater canoeist Erich Pasch was a member of the West German K-4 1,000 metres at the 1972 München Olympics, which finished fifth in the final. Four years later in Montréal he failed to reach the finals in the K-1 500 and the K-2 1,000 (with Rudolf Blaß). Pasch won three silver medals at World Championships: in 1971 with the K-4 1,000 (with Blaß, Rainer Hennes, and Eberhard Fischer ), and in 1973 with the K-4 10,000 (with Blaß, Horst Mattern, and Fischer), and in 1975 in the K-1 10,000.
Pasch won West German championships in the K-1 1,000 from 1972-76, and in the K-1 10,000 from 1975-76. In the K-2 he claimed the 500 metre titles with Blaß in 1975, and in the 1,000 metres event from 1973-75. By profession, Pasch became department head in the development of electrics and electronic devices at the well-known automobile company Audi.
