Flatwater canoeist Eberhard Fischer was a member of the West German K-4 1,000 metres at the 1972 München Olympics, which finished fifth in the final. He won two silver medals at World Championships: in 1971 with the K-4 1,000 (with Erich Pasch, Rainer Hennes, and Rudolf Blaß ), and in 1973 with the K-4 10,000 (with Pasch, Horst Mattern, and Blaß).
He won West German titles in the K-1 10,000 in 1968 and 1972, and with Bernd Guse the K-2 10,000 from 1969-71, and with non-Olympian Wolfgang Malcher 1973-74. Fischer also claimed, with different partners, the K-2 1,000 titles in 1969-70, and the K-2 500 titles in 1969 and from 1971-73.
