The endurance phase of the 1972 Olympic eventing was contested at the Military-Gelände Poing, a military base near München. The jumping events in eventing were contested at the Reitstadion, or Riding Facility in the Riem section of München. This was a temporary facility constructed for the 1972 Olympics and it also hosted the modern pentathlon show jumping phase.
There were team and individual eventing competitions held at München, both held concurrently over four days. Richard Meade won the individual title and led Great Britain to the team gold medal.
