Lacrosse was held at the 1904 Olympics, one of only two times it has been an official Olympic sport, the other being in 1908, although lacrosse demonstration matches were also held at the 1928, 1932, and 1948 Olympics. Three teams entered, with two from Canada – the Winnipeg Shamrocks from Winnipeg, Manitoba; and the Mohawk Indians, a team from southern Ontario, which likely included some Native American players from northwestern New York. A fourth team, the Brooklyn Crescents, was also entered but did not compete. The two matches were played on Francis Field, the main Olympic Stadium on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis.
