The 2008 tennis competition was contested at the Beijing Aolinpike Gongyuan Wangqiuchang, or the Olympic Green Tennis Centre. It was a specially built tennis facility for the 2008 Olympics, which was completed in 2007, and since 2009, has hosted the China Open on the ATP Tour.
There were four events with both men and women contesting singles and doubles. The four events were won by four different nations, with eight nations winning medals. The top medal-winning nation was Russia, with three, based on their women’s singles players who swept the medals in that event. The competition was marred by poor weather, with multiple rain delays that caused the medal matches to be moved to Sunday.
