The gold and silver medalist at Beijing 2022 were Switzerland’s Mathilde Gremaud and China’s Eileen Gu, and they were back as the favorites again, with Gremaud having won two World Championships in slopestyle since Beijing. The two led the qualifying round in that order once again, followed by Britain’s Kirsty Muir and American Avery Krumme.
The final saw Gu take the lead on the opening run, scoring 86.58, with Gremaud in second at 83.60, but she posted the gold medal winning run in round two of the final with 86.96, and Gu could not answer, unable to land her new “disaster” trick in rounds two and three, and would settle for the silver medal. Bronze went to Canada’s Megan Oldham, who would come back a week later to win gold in Big Air over Gu. Muir was on the podium until Oldham’s final run pushed her back to fourth place. Gremaud defended her gold medal, giving her three medals in the event after a silver medal in 2018. She also had an Olympic bronze medal from 2022 in Big Air.
