Women’s large hill ski jumping made its Olympic début at the 2026 Milano-Cortina Games, having first been held at the World Championships in 2021. The reigning World Champion was Nika Prevc of Slovenia, who had already won silver and gold in the normal hill individual and team events, respectively, and was also highest-ranked in the 2025-26 World Cup. Germany’s Selina Freitag and Norway’s Eirin Maria Kvandal were the most recent World runner-up and bronze medalist respectively.

Kvandal won the most official training rounds, followed by Prevc, but Yuki Ito of Japan surprisingly had the longest jump at 138.0 metres. Kvandal then won the trial round, followed by Norway taking the top four spots in round one: Kvandal, followed by Anna Odine Strøm, Silje Opseth, and Heidi Traaserud, with Prevc in fifth. Strøm was already the individual normal hill champion and had taken silver in the team event with Kvandal.

In the final, Prevc had the longest jump of the tournament, at 143.2 metres, but it would only be good enough for bronze in the end. Kvandal had the next longest jump, but style points placed Strøm in the gold medal position, so Kvandal had to settle for silver. Ito and Freitag, meanwhile, could not keep up with the competition and placed 14th and 17th respectively.
