The roller hockey event in 1992 was played on quad skates. The 1991 Worlds podium saw Portugal in first place, with the Netherlands second, and Argentina third. In 1989, Spain had won, followed by Portugal and Italy. The 1992 tournament consisted of 12 teams separated into two six-team groups that played a round-robin tournament. The top three teams from each group advanced to a six-team semi-final group that again played a round-robin. The top two teams in the semi-final group, Spain and Argentina, then played for first place, while the third- and fourth-place teams, Portugal and Italy, played off for third place. In the final, Argentina upset Spain, 8-6, while Italy defeated Portugal, 3-2, to place third.
