Jaime Yzaga was a Peruvian tennis player who played professionally from 1985 to 1997. Yzaga achieved a career-best singles ranking of #18 in the world in October 1989, and a doubles ranking of #54 in the world in November 1989. He played on Peru’s Davis Cup team from 1984 to 1997.
As a junior player Yzaga won the boys’ doubles title at Wimbledon in 1985 with Agustín Moreno of Mexico as his partner. A year earlier the pair finished as runners-up in the boys’ doubles at the US Open. Yzaga also won the boys’ singles title at the 1985 French Open with victory against Austria’s Thomas Muster.
On the ATP Tour Yzaga won eight singles titles from July 1987 to October 1993, recording victories over Luiz Mattar, Javier Frana, and MaliVai Washington. Yzaga reached three ATP doubles finals in 1988 and 1989 but finished as the runner-up each time. Yzaga competed in the singles at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics when tennis was a demonstration sport, losing in the first round to Jimmy Arias. Eight years later he competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, this time reaching the second round where he lost to Pete Sampras.
