Malcolm Hickox had been an alternate to the 1964 Olympic team when he was only in high school. Hickox competed for the Missisauga Canoe Club and attended McMaster College in Canada, graduating in 1970. Hickox competed in the C-2 with William Gates at the 1968 Olympics.
