Austrian equestrian rider Rudolf Trenkwitz participated at the 1936 Berlin Olympics with his horse Danubia in the show jumping events. He was unplaced as he could not finish the course. Therefore, the Austrian team was also unplaced. Trenkwitz was killed in action in 1942 during World War II in Russia, during the bombing of Gorky.
