As a defender, Dany Dupont enjoyed a long career with the Belgian national team. Between 1963 and 1974 he gathered 87 caps, and played at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games, where Belgium ranked 9th and 19th, respectively. Dupont, who was an entrepreneur outside of hockey, also played at the inaugural European Hockey Championships in 1970, where Belgium was eliminated at the quarter-final stage. Domestically, Dupont played his entire career for Royal Racing Club de Bruxelles.
