German fencer Julius Lichtenfels, affiliated with Fechtclub Offenbach, was eliminated in the first round of individual épée and sabre at the 1908 London Olympics, and reached the quarter-finals with the German épée team. At Stockholm in 1912 he was eliminated in the semifinals of the individual foil, and again in the first round of the individual épée. With the German sabre team Lichtenfels qualified for the semifinals but did not reach the final.
Nationally Lichtenfels was German foil champion in 1913 and German sabre champion in 1914. He was one of the top pupils of fencing master Arturo Gazzera. With FC Offenbach Lichtenfels became German sabre team champion in 1923 and 1924, and épée team champion in 1914 and 1920.
