Biography

Vladimir Danich was the son of a Russian major general and graduated from the Nikolaevskoye Cavalry School in St. Petersburg in 1908. He joined the 4th Mariupol Hussar Regiment in 1909 as a cornet, later rising to the rank of a colonel. In the 1912 Olympic Games, he competed in both sabre events, individually and with the team. Although qualified for round two in the individual event, he did not start.

After World War I and fighting for the Whites in the Civil War, Danich emigrated to Yugoslavia and lived in the Zemun district of Beograd (Belgrade) and served as a captain in the Yugoslavian army. After World War II, he moved to the United States.
