Amy Chow competed in gymnastics at the 1996 and 2000 Olympics Games, winning three medals. She won gold with the 1996 USA team, adding a bronze in the 2000 team event. Chow also won an individual silver medal in 1996 on the uneven bars. Chow won a World Championships silver medal with the team in 1994. She added four medals at the Pan American Games, with golds in the team event and on the vault.
Chow attended Stanford University and later went to Stanford Medical School. She did a residency in pediatrics at the Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, affiliated with Stanford. She married Jason Ho, an orthopaedic surgeon.
Chow was inducted into the US Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1998 as a member of the 1996 Olympic team, and again in 2005 as an individual. She is also a member of the San Jose Sports Hall of Fame, and in 2008 was inducted into the US Olympic Hall of Fame. Born to immigrants from Hong Kong and Shanghai, she was given The Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans in 2003, and also received the Outstanding Overseas Chinese Award that year.
