Despite being the older brother of Stanley, Ernest Leigh was regularly in the shadow of his younger sibling and had to watch him win three national titles. The nearest Ernest came to winning a national title was in 1924 when he finished third behind Stanley and Harry Finchett. The two brothers regularly gave gymnastic exhibitions around south Wales, and other parts of Britain
